Norman High Schools Make Top List For ACT Scores

Norman and Norman North High Schools both made the top 15 schools in the state based on ACT scores. Norman North was ranked sixth in the state with an average score on the ACT college-entrance exam of 23.5. Norman High was ranked 11th with an average ACT score of 23.2. The ACT is graded on a scale of 0-36.

Two Employees At Stonehouse Marketing Awarded WorkKeys Certificates

Beth Jones, of the Norman Economic Development Coalition (NEDC), was on hand to present two employees, Clint Brhel and Clint Sanders, with an Oklahoma Career Ready Certificate, the final product of the NEDC's WorkKeys Assessments Program. WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring "real world" skills that employers believe are critical to job success.

The founder of Norman-based Merchant Metrix is ready to take his knowledge of online search engines and retail market-manipulating skills to the next level with two new Web sites and a venture capital opportunity. The company recently launched Web sites commerceregistry.com and shopoklahomaonline.com to raise the search engine profiles of Roberts’ merchant clients. Merchant Metrix is a current tenant located in NEDC's technology based incubator, eTec.

Local Company GOES Green

GOES Energy Inc. is working to help people decrease their impact on the environment. GOES sells oil refiners that increase the life of oil and electrical controllers to decrease electricity use. The company is trying to get the word out about how people can decrease their energy consumption.

Group Helps Companies Take Off

Shape Engineering for Advanced Manufacturing (SEAM) strives to provide services for aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul services. SEAM hopes to play a role in helping companies that don’t have expertise or take the time to bid on projects that offer high-quality parts for airplanes.

LWPB Architecture Ranks In ENR's Top 100 Green Design Firms

Oklahoma City’s LWPB Architecture has been named as one of nation’s top 100 Green Design firms, with the firm’s Norman office listed as one of its notable “green design” projects. LWPB is the only Oklahoma company on the Top 100 list compiled by Engineering News-Record, the industry standard for news, analysis and commentary on the global construction market.

Sooner Legends Inn & Suites was named outstanding hospitality business by the Frontier Country Marketing Association. Riverwind Casino received an honorable mention for outstanding attraction.

HeyDay Brings Fun To Area

HeyDay will be celebrating its second anniversary in September and has attracted patrons and events extending well beyond kid birthday parties and teenagers – many of the customers are adults and HeyDay offers a team-building program that has been used by some of the area’s largest companies.

The Candy Basket Celebrates 20 Years

The local gift shop, The Candy Basket, 2001 W. Main St., is preparing to celebrate their 20th year of business, and things have never tasted better. Aside from the myriad of choices of candy offered at the Galoob's store -- chocolates, toffees, gummies, sours and taffies, to name just a few -- the shelves also are stocked with everything from humorous and irreverent magnets and greeting cards to glassware available for monogramming.

Paul Mitchell School To Call Norman Home

Paul Mitchell Partner School, the cosmetology institution, will open Sept. 22 in Norman in a former shoe store building on Ed Noble Parkway. There are 110 Paul Mitchell schools in the United States.
