NEDC Takes the "Day to Care" for Norman

Friday, September 12th, the Norman Economic Development Coalition traded their busy work schedules for something a bit more hands on. The NEDC, along with many other corporate groups have participated in the Day of Caring by grabbing tools, paintbrushes or even spatulas to support the community.

A long-awaited groundbreaking for the J.D. McCarty Center

After years of planning and fundraising, the long-awaited Camp Claphans groundbreaking took place on Thursday, October 16th. Camp Claphans is a part of the J.D. McCarty Center for children with developmental disabilities.

Comfort Inn opens

The Comfort Inn Suites, 840 Copperfield Drive, has opened. The Inn features 73 guest rooms and a meeting room that can accommodate up to 20 people.

Sysco Norman facility earns environmental award

Sysco Corp.’s Norman facility has been presented the Orion Energy Systems Environmental Stewardship Award for a recent lighting change that resulted in a reduction of the use of electric power.

KeyBridge looks to expand services

KeyBridge Technologies, Inc. made number three on the 2008 Greater Oklahoma City Metro 50 list.  KeyBridge is a privately-owned company that demonstrated an increase in percentage of annual growth and submitted 2007 revenues of at least $1 million. KeyBridge is a former tenant in NEDC’s technology based incubator, eTec.

SWeNT Dedicates Commercial-Scale Plant

With state-of-the-art single-wall carbon nanotube manufacturing and processing equipment as a backdrop, SWeNT welcomed nearly 200 guests Sept. 25th to celebrate the dedication of the company’s new 18,000-sqaure-foot, $3.9 million facility. SWeNT is a former tenant in NEDC's technology incubator, eTec.

It's official: Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center opens

Just over 19 months after breaking ground on a spring day in 2007, the $50 million Embassy Suites Norman Hotel and Conference Center officially cut the ribbon on Tuesday October 21st.

Enlarging Norman

The Norman business community received good news in late September when the City Council approved an additional $29 million financing package for developing University North Park, the massive shopping district being built on land once part of University of Oklahoma’s Westheimer Airport.
