Experts Say Wind Energy Key to Oklahoma Economy
At the Oklahoma Wind Commerce 2009, held on June 23rd and 24th, speakers said Oklahoma has vast potential for the development of the renewable resource and it could be a boon to the state's economy. Oklahoma is 12th among the states in wind energy generation, but state officials said it could climb into the top two in the next couple of decades if it continued to develop its resources.

Few Twisters, Many Clues Found On Big Storm Chase For VORTEX2 project
About 120 people from 18 universities and government agencies recently spent 35 days driving 11,000 miles to find and study tornadic storms for VORTEX2, the second Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment. Part of the VORTEX2 mission is to research all tornadic storms so meteorologists can learn why some develop tornadoes and others dont.

Armed Forces Reserve Center's Construction Ahead of Schedule
Construction on a $43 million Armed Forces Reserve Center on Norman's north side is ahead of scheduled. Sitting on a 70-acre plot of land, the center is being built along Tecumseh Road between Interstate 35 and State Highway 77. The 243,000 square foot facility is the first of seven reserve centers to be built in the state.
